Well, I'm happy to announce the release of the debut Optics single, "22"! The song is out now on all digital retailers, including Spotify, Apple Music and Google Play.
This is a pretty big milestone for me. I have been too scared to put myself out there as a singer for the better part of a decade, and after much encouragement from my friends and family around me, I decided to go for it no matter what. And turns out, it really wasn't that bad! It just goes to show that doing something big with your life can be scary and uncomfortable, but getting through it feels incredible.
I have many people to thank. First off, my wife for putting up with me asking her opinion on song after song after song...she is a trooper! I need to thank Brad Smith, who mixed the track at Velveteen Audio. I need to thank my band that played with me at my first gig, Bill George, Jory Kinjo, and Fred Brenton. And a extra special thanks to Fred for contributing synths, bass, and drum sounds for the actual recording. Thanks to Reuben Ghose at Mojito Mastering in Toronto for doing such an amazing job, and finally, thanks to Andrew Morren at Velveteen Records for promoting the hell out of the track.
Many things to come in the future so stay tuned. For now, check out the song here:
